THE PROJECT


Influencer Tara LaFerrara had a cult following sharing fitness tips and empowering motivation on her Instagram. As she got closer to launching her own fitness app, she came to The Nameist for help honing in on her message. Through a refined strategy, we landed on the perfect name for an app that empowers women to lift heavy and build muscle. Then, we brought Broads life with targeted messaging across all platforms. Today, Broads has reached its own popularity with 26k followers and counting.

strategic naming

A good name is more than just a word or two, but a strategic introduction to a brand. Based on the strategy, we needed a name for this app that could immediately convey a sense of strength and female empowerment. Just as the app defies the stereotype that women shouldn’t have too much muscle—the name “Broads” reclaims a traditionally derogatory term for women (in more ways than one) and owns it as a badge of the badass. We also named the three tiers of the Broads program: Club, Coach, and Champion.

Following the strategy, we continued to bring Broads to life as punchy sidekick for women needing a positive push in the right direction. Fostering sense of community and belonging was also important as the app features group forums and 1:1 coaching. From compelling landing pages and in-app quizzes to email flow and FAQs — we helped Broads launch with a memorable personality and strong digital presence.
